Bedwetting

The discharge of urine during sleep. Bedwetting normally occurs until a child’s bladder grows enough to be able to hold the urine produced during the hours of sleep, normally by 3 to 5 years of age. Bedwetting after the age of 5 is usually due either to a physical problem with the urinary system or to a failure to attend to sensory signals that the bladder is full during sleep.
